Mr. Yasir Mahmoud Ahmed was abducted along the Lamu - Mpeketoni Road. According to his family members who were with him at the material time, Yasir was ordered to step out of his car and was taken by unknown armed men. Efforts to search for him in various police stations within Lamu County have did not bear any fruit. Civil rights organizations filed a habeas corpus petition seeking Mahmoud’s release. Malindi High Court twice ordered his release, but Mahmoud is not yet out and his whereabouts remains unknown.
