According to the Star newspaper, 26 year old Vitalis Okinda died at Bondo police station where police were holding him. Okinda went to check his motorcycle at the station which police had impounded at Bondo Subcounty hospital where he had parked it as he entered the facility to seek Covid-19 vaccination. The facility's security alerted the police when Okinda defied orders not to enter the facility on a motorcycle. It was impounded. At the station police accused him of assault, resisting arrest and being in possession of 21 rolls of bhang. Deceased's mother said police demanded a Ksh 40 000 bribe to free the son which she did not have and asked them to take him to court. The Star reported witnesses saying the Okinda’s body had visible physical injuries when he was picked up from the morgue attendant. Case reported to IPOA.
