Police have confirmed killing two people suspected of armed robbery in five counties-Uasin-Gishu, Trans-Nzoia, Bungoma, Kakamega and Vihiga. The deceased were shot dead along Eldoret-Mumias road by detectives from DCI headquarters. Police claim the deceased were on a motorbike headed to Eldoret from Mumias when they defied orders to surrender and shot at the officers. This prompted the undercover detectives to shoot and kill them on the spot The duo are accused of killing three members of the public. An AK-47 assault rifle loaded with 19 rounds of 7.62mm special calibre was recovered from the deceased. The duo police say were part of a five-man gang that had staged a total of 8 armed attacks targeting businesses in the five counties, between October 22 to December 26,2022 leading to loss of millions of cash. Police say it lead to an outcry from businessmen.
