Police trailed the deceased using a motorcycle posing as Bodaboda operators. The deceased were also using a motorcycle allegedly to rob pedestrians between Màziwa, Githurai and Zimmerman estate. The deceased on realisation of a suspicious motorcycle that was trailing them for long sped off towards a footbridge on Thika road near Car Wash stage. One of the deceased tried to shoot at the police officers and that is when police pumped several bullets into their bodies killing them on the spot. A Bodaboda rider said police called Bodaboda operators officials from within identify the deceased but it was found out that the deceased were not part of their members.
