According to sources, Ian and his friends were out for lunch in Mathare when police officers attempted to arrest them after confirming their names. Ian resisted and attempted to ask the reasons for arrest. One of the police officer allegedly pulled out his gun and shot Ian. Everyone in the hotel, including the two friends, ran away.
