On October 22, 2021, Anita Muthui was allegedly stabbed to death by a police officer from Masala Police Post in Garissa. It was reported that Muthui and her perpetrator were in a relationship. The officer killed Muthui when she was working at an Administration Police Post canteen at Masalani. It is reported that the officer shot himself dead after the killing. The family is currently appealing for justice from authorities.
